Spooning
Spooning is a great start or
end to a session, or something a couple can do just to be intimate
with each other, as it enables you to feel very close your
partner, both physically and emotionally. However, there’s no
reason that this should be relegated to the fringes of sex – as
important as that is – this position also offers a great
opportunity for penetration. For some reason ‘spooning’ was one of
the top google searches of 2013 in the UK, but no-one is really
sure why.
How to do it:
She lies on her side
with knees slightly bent, and he lies behind her with his knees
behind hers. Holding her hips he brings them back towards to his,
entering her from behind.
Advantages:
This position allows for lots of skin on skin contact
with ample opportunity for him to caress her entire body. This is
a method that lends itself to slow, intense sex as the angle and
depth of penetration can be very precisely controlled to put
pressure on the sensitive back of the vagina.
Disadvantages:
Kissing is quite
difficult in this position, although not impossible. She may find
it difficult to stay in the moment, feeling that she’s just lying
there, with no eye contact.
Alternatively:
He lies on his back, legs straight and together, arms by his side. She lays on top of him, straddling him slightly guiding him into her. With most of her weight on top of him, and some support from her arms, she then closes her legs, resting them on top of his, sliding up and down on top of him. This is just as close as spooning, but offers the opportunity for eye contact and spooning. Her being able to close her legs tightens up all the muscles around the vagina, benefitting both him and her.
The Lap Dance
The name for this one
comes from its similarity to the moves utilised by lap-dancers.
These dances are all about creating intense intimacy, delivering
sexuality without actual contact, so when it’s tweaked to include
sex, it layers this intimacy and closeness over the deep
satisfaction of penetration.
How to do it:
He sits up on the edge
of the bed, and she kneels on the bed, straddling him with a leg
either side, arms embracing him. She then lowers herself down on
to him, easing him inside her.
Advantages:
She is in control and can
dictate the speed, angle and depth of penetration. Both partners’
hands are free to touch each other (or themselves) for manual
stimulation. This position can be very intimate as there is lots
of opportunity for kissing, cuddling and eye contact. Over a
prolonged time this becomes very intense.
Disadvantages:
This requires a lot of sustained muscle strength from
her as she raises and lowers herself onto him with her legs. The
prolonged eye contact can also get too intense over time and make
one or both partners feel self-conscious or uncomfortable.
Alternatively:
Spin it around! He sits in the same position, but she
sits on his lap leaning forward slightly. This has the physical
benefits of The Lap Dance, but uses a different set of muscles in
her legs and breaks the face to face contact. He will also be less
pinned down, so he can take a much more active role in this
position. It also means that he will be putting pressure on
different parts of the vagina, and makes it easier to reach her
clitoris for manual stimulation. So mix them up!
